Historically, one of our consistent local campus outreaches has been "Shoes For Schools," a endeavor to help teachers put new shoes on the feet of needy students in their classrooms. Elevate takes a portion of monthly giving and makes it available to our team to purchase new shoes and deliver them to the school.
Recently, under the leadership of coordinators Craig & Shirlee Moody, has been able to establish an additional relationship with St. Helen's Elementary School. In Craig's words:
We had our kick-off with St. Helen's Elementary School in Longview together with Cynthia Hanson this past week. Cynthia is the Community Liaison for the school, in which her primary task is link education and parents and their kids. We visited her large room, and met some of the parents and volunteers. She was ecstatic and somewhat overwhelmed (she teared up) at the generosity of Elevate Church. Our initial delivery included ten (10) pairs of shoes in a container box together with much needed shoe laces. Cynthia informed us that they also need volunteers in her classroom for reading, mentoring helping work with needy children. We believe St. Helen's Elementary was a good choice, as they are in a poor part of town and their needs are great. We're excited about partnering the Shoes for Schools Ministry with them.
