Over this past holiday weekend, our church family came together for our annual Labor Day Celebration! The day began as we sang Happy Birthday to our Senior Pastor, Pastor Steve! Afterwards, judges taste-tested the cook-off entries as everyone else enjoyed a family meal.
In the past, the highly-anticipated "Chili & Pie Cook-Off" competition has been something to look forward to. This year was no exception. Chefs and bakers perfected their recipes and prepared to cook their amazing chili and pie dishes. The trash talk was evident as past winners and newcomers hungered for the "Grand Prize Winner" titles.
This year, a newcomer to the pie competition claimed her victory. Congratulations to our Pie Cook-Off third-place winner Annie Jones, second-place winner Terri Voltz, and congrats to newcomer Jenene Bricker on winning the "Pie Grand-Prize Winner" title!
In the Chili competition, things were shaken up as the reigning champion was dethroned and one couple swept up the winning chili titles! Congrats to the Chili Cook-off third-place winner Grant Stayberg and second-place winner Josh Neilson on making some delicious chili. Congratulations to Tiffany Neilson for reclaiming the title of "Chili Grand-Prize Winner"!
New to this year's cook-off competition was a "Jr. Cupcake" division. Children ages 11 and younger put their skills to the test and competed to create the best tasting, most presentable, and most creative cupcakes around. Congratulations to our winners: Ellie Williams, Mazie Nielson, Ethan Nielson, Angelina Guzman, and Elizabeth Ackley!
After the morning's festivities, many of the children and their families headed outdoors for even more fun. Game stations and bounce houses were set up for them to enjoy.
A special thank you to all of our event and student volunteers who worked hard to make this event possible! [For more photos of the event, visit our Facebook page or visit the hashtag #eLaborDay16 on both our Facebook and Instagram pages.]
