Several verses derived from Psalm 119 "Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you. If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life. Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies. I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word. I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me. How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws. I have suffered much; preserve my life, Lord, according to your word. Accept, Lord, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws. Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law. Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end."

King David, a man chosen by God to lead his people (1 Samuel 13: 14) sings out his prayers to the Lord. The life of King David is one that shows a life of someone who is chosen by God to lead his people and although he loves God very much and has Godly wisdom, he still falls into sin despite his zeal! He is quick to repent and God still continues to work through him and bless his life and his lineage. His life is one that followers of Jesus Christ can see as one they can quickly relate to because even when you have God on your side, you will have troubles and temptations to overcome!

John 16: 33 (Jesus speaking) " I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." Coupled with, Romans 3: 23 " For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

David's life is truly one of great highs and lows living in this world while following after God. I love how his songs glorify God's sovereignty, cries out for wisdom in his pain, and resolves that he knows God is in control and will take care of him.

Psalms always has a way of breaking me down to build me up in Jesus. I am so thankful for them, it reminds me that I am not the first person to feel the way I do during various points in my walk with Him. Hallelujah! My heart rejoices at the encouragement it brings to me. Thank you Elevate Church, for allowing me to serve you, bride of Christ! It brings me great joy to serve my brothers and sisters, the body, in every way I can! I know others look to me as an example and I am constantly asking God to conform me to His image and seeking his wisdom that I may serve you the best I can. It is an honor and a privilege (Acts 20: 28 and 1 Peter 5:2).

I look to David as an example of someone who just like me loves God zealously and does great good for the Kingdom, but at times fall short of what God has asked of me! " My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end"!  " Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law"! Amen brother David! For this reason I repent daily and am quick to be aligned with the Lord and not let sin separate us. His mercy is new each day and he washes us white as snow! I want to walk fully in everything he has for me and called me to be. May I decrease, and you increase oh Lord, have your will done on earth as it is in heaven!
