Scripture:

Titus 3:2 "To speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people."

Observation:

Paul is speaking to the church about maturity in the heart of believers, that having an angry heart brings nothing but destruction to ourselves and the situation. We must submit to rulers and not speak evil of anyone, for we ourselves we once foolish and we must treat others with love always.

Application:

There have been many times in my life where I have felt wronged by someone else and my first instinct was to act in anger and speak against them. But understanding God's character helped me put aside the bickering and the bitter feelings. My patience has grown dramatically in these past few seasons of life and I'm glad it has. Recently I was moved to another position at work and I remember the anger growing in my heart toward my supervisor and others, but God's Word rang in my heart to set it aside and submit, just as I would submit to Jesus. It was easy to slander and stir controversy over what had happened and it took actual work to fight against it. Putting my pride aside and pressing forward for what God had next in store for me.

Different seasons of life will come and I always have the choice to be submitted to God's plan, or be defiant and give into foolish anger. As I grow in my walk I always look forward to learning more about God's character and praying that he refines my own character! Through the good and the bad!
