1. He Is Actively Relational At His Core - We are who we are. It is who we are at the core. Based on that core, we act. If we are kind-hearted, our actions reveal our makeup. If we are greedy, our actions will show it. God, at his core, is love. It is who he is. God doesn't just love people. He is love. His actions flow out of who He is
1 John 4:8, 16 God is love. (God is more than loving… He IS love)
a) He Created Man For A Loving Relationship - God desired to have a relationship with man. It is revealed in the creation of Adam.
Genesis 2:7 the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Genesis 3:8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?”
b) He Desires Reciprocation From EVERYONE - God wants a relationship with every person. He reaches out to every person. He longs for a response. He longs to be our loving God. He is not willing to share that caliber of relationship with other Gods.
Exodus 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before me.
Deuteronomy 6:5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
c) He Remedies All Blockades With His LOVE - as we study God and man's relationship, we see Adam's sin causing a blockade between the two. God is so committed to the relationship that though man created the barrier, God sent His only son to remove the barrier.
Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God is Ddoing this right now in the lives of EVERYONE!
2. Without His Draw We Would Never Find Him - we learn from scripture that man is so lost and in the dark, that he is hopelessly unable to find God, even on His best day. A veil clouds his mind, and scales cover His eyes so that he cannot even see the obvious. God, still desiring a relationship with all of us, is faithful to reach out to us through His drawing process.
Romans 3:10 As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away
1 Corinthians 2:14 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
This is how Jesus brought you to Himself. You didn't find Him, He drew you! This is what He is doing in the lives of others also. This is what needs to happen for your friends and family to know Him. This is what we pray for. This is what we rely on as we attempt to win them to Him.
